Sylvia Karpinsky brings with her an extensive music background
and a formidable list of accomplishments in Sweet Adelines–
not the least of which is as the tenor in the 1991 International Championship
Quartet SWING STREET.
Sylvia has also directed two choruses in Regional Competition,
the second of which took first place with a score over 600 points,
landing her the designation as a Master Director. She has been a
master of ceremonies for Sweet Adelines competitions in Michigan, Ohio and
Ontario.
Sylvia is a former member of Great Lakes chorus as well.
Her home is in Sterling Heights with her husband and two teenage sons.
Bowser the toy poodle rounds out the family. She sings soprano in the
Immaculate Conception Ukranian Catholic Church choir and plays the
flute. Her hobbies are water skiing, walking, reading and wave-running.
She is a 25-year Hamtramck elementary school teacher. She has been a
vocal music teacher for kindergarten through fifth grade students for
five years.
With her list of tremendous abilities in directing and singing,
Sylvia brings an energetic love of barbershop harmony with her and
we enjoy her talents and time with us more than we can say.
